Ultralight Backpacking Treats
Just because you're in the backcountry doesn't mean you have to deprive yourself of all those little things that make life so sweet. I mean, doesn't have to be all iodine-flavored water and beef stroganoff. Here are a few treats that will hardly add any weight to your pack.
Starbucks Via - Normally we try to only promote smaller companies. But the truth is, nobody has created an instant coffee that holds a candle to Via. And with each packet weighing around 3.3g, it's a perfect excuse for a foofoo mocha by the campfire.
Pat's Backcountry Pail Rail - Let's be honest, beer is an essential backpacking item. But hauling heavy bottles in and out is a pain. Each 60g packet of Pat's Backcountry beer concentrate will make a delicious 16oz beverage. Either hike in some carbonated water or use their activation system with purified water you find on the trail and you're ready to party.
Astronaut Icecream - If it's light enough to shoot into space at the end of a rocket, it's light enough to toss in your pack. Each icecream packet weighs just 19g. It doesn't need any refrigeration and has a 3 year shelf life. And the chalky, crumbly texture is surprisingly enjoyable. A perfect treat for stargazing at the end of a long day's hiking.
